A comprehensive AI-powered campus community platform that revolutionizes student interaction, knowledge sharing, and campus engagement.

Inspiration

Campus communication today is highly fragmented. Students rely on multiple WhatsApp groups, Telegram channels, emails, and physical notice boards, which often results in missed updates, spam, and poor engagement.

We wanted to solve this by building a single intelligent campus hub that brings together discussions, academic content, events, and opportunities enhanced with AI automation and a modern, engaging UI.
Merry CampusConnect was inspired by the idea that campus platforms should be:

  • Smart (AI-powered)
  • Simple (easy onboarding)
  • Safe (auto moderation)
  • Fun (festive, animated UI)

🚀 What it Does

Merry CampusConnect is an AI-powered campus community platform where students can:

  • Create and browse posts under categories like Notes, Doubts, Events, Opportunities, and General
  • Interact via comments and likes
  • Search and filter posts efficiently
  • Experience AI-driven auto moderation, auto-tagging, and post summarization
  • Enjoy a dark, animated, festive UI with Christmas and spooky themes

All processing happens seamlessly, giving users a clean and safe experience.

How We Built It

  • Frontend: React 19 + React Router
  • Backend: Supabase (Fully Serverless)
  • Database: Supabase PostgreSQL
  • AI Engine: Google Gemini API
  • Styling: Custom CSS with animations and festive themes
  • Deployment: Netlify

Authentication is kept username-based (no passwords) for hackathon simplicity and fast onboarding.

Challenges We Ran Into

  • Designing AI moderation that blocks toxicity without silencing genuine student discussions
  • Implementing fallback logic when the Gemini API is unavailable
  • Optimizing performance while using animations and visual effects
  • Maintaining a clean UX while integrating multiple AI features
  • Keeping the architecture 100% serverless
