Owner-led service businesses do excellent work every week, but the proof rarely keeps up. The person who knows what happened on a job is usually the owner or operator, and that person is already moving to the next job. Outsourcing the work is hard because a marketer was not on site, does not know which claims are safe, and can easily turn real work into generic copy.

Merritt solves that problem by starting where the owner already has evidence: a finished-job photo. In ChatGPT, the owner asks Merritt to turn the photo into a portfolio project. GPT-5.6 separates visible observations from unknowns, asks one focused question at a time, and drafts from owner-confirmed facts instead of inventing materials, outcomes, or customer claims.

The consequential state is handled by Merritt’s deterministic services. Auth0 protects identity and scopes. D1 stores canonical projects, revisions, preferences, approvals, and publication attempts. Private media is re-encoded through Cloudflare Images so originals and GPS/EXIF metadata are not published. Readiness blockers prevent unsafe release. Approval is bound to the exact revision the owner reviewed. After approval, Merritt publishes a stable public project page and links it into one business portfolio hub.

The primary workflow runs in ChatGPT with MCP App widgets when available and complete structured/text fallback for Codex or any MCP client. The optional web dashboard is only a management mirror for visual editing, photo order, learned preferences, and publication history; the demo does not depend on it.

How Codex was used

Codex was the primary implementation and verification partner during Build Week. It helped build the Cloudflare Worker, MCP tools, widget contracts, dashboard, public renderer, D1 migrations, media-safety pipeline, approval and publishing services, inquiry route, fixtures, browser tests, proof scripts, final evidence gates, and submission package.

Codex also ran repeated design and functionality reviews, tightened the final verifier, generated and refreshed Devpost gallery proof, and kept a clear separation between Build Week work and the pre-existing product idea. The human owner retained the audience, product scope, trust rules, publishing policy, visual direction, and final acceptance decisions.

How GPT-5.6 was used

GPT-5.6 powers the runtime photo interview. It observes what the image supports, labels what it cannot know, asks for missing project context, and turns the owner’s answers into a structured private draft. It does not own canonical state, approve publication, choose hidden recipients, or decide whether a public page is safe to release. Merritt’s services enforce those boundaries.
