Inspiration

If we're being honest.... we were inspired by WUPHF.com from the show The Office. WUPHF.com in the office is a website that will send a message to anyone through phone, fax, email, twitter, sms and voicemail, all at once.

What it does

MEOW is a modern tool for social networking, and as of now can only send a Telegram message, Telegram phone call, and an SMS to the intended user.

How we built it

Using expo-managed react-native app, we tried to create an app as simple as it could be. The main features are built in node.js in the backend, which are the relevant API calls

Challenges we ran into

Initially we planned to send an email, sms, whatsapp, telegram text, facebook messenger, call and fax all at once. However, for the email, whatsapp, and fax parts, there were no affordable outlets or APIs available for us to use, and we weren't able to build our own services for most. Whatsapp and Facebook also have their own security protocols for messaging that we could not get past.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to send Telegram texts and placing automated calls were particularly fun, and our most proud accomplishments! They were our first breakthrough after failing with Whatsapp and Facebook as well, which was a great boost.

Making API calls, Creating apps with Expo in React-Native, and how difficult sending automated emails could be !

What's next for MEOW

We hope to eventually find a way to send messages automatically on all platforms, and hopefully without cost. The current leads we have are Twilio and IFTTT, which we will look into soon!
