Wanted to try something low-level! MenuMate is a project aimed at enhancing dining experiences by ensuring that customers receive quality, safe, and delicious food. It evaluates restaurants using health inspection records and food-site reviews, initially focusing on Ottawa with plans for expansion. Built on React, the tool faced integration challenges with frameworks and databases, yet achieved a seamless front and backend connection. The current focus includes dataset expansion and technical infrastructure enhancement. The tool scrapes data from websites and reads JSON files for front-end display, primarily using technologies like BeautifulSoup, React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The team encountered challenges, as it was their first experience with web scraping and faced difficulties in displaying data.
