Inspiration
I am a foreigner living in Poland and there is usually no English menu here. Qr menu is also not common in restaurants. I thought maybe I could solve this problem with a qr menu generator with an easy interface.
What it does
A restaurant owner signs up to the site and is then directed to the dashboard page. It then creates a menu and creates a qr menu for the created menu. The owner takes this qr menu as a printout and uses it in his restaurant.
How we built it
On the frontend side I used next js. On the backend side I used node.js and mongodb.
I deployed frontend in Vercel. I deployed backend in Render.com.
Challenges we ran into
I tried to make the interface as simple as possible and it was a bit of a challenge. It was a difficult process to remove everything unnecessary, to decide what was necessary.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I think it was a nice software solution with a great interface. It's free for now and users can start using it.
What we learned
I learned how to deploy the backend in this project. I had developed backend projects running locally before, but I learned how to deploy and connect to the backend with url in this project.
What's next for Menulya.com - QR Menu Generator
I plan to completely change the backend side and transfer it to supabase.
After that, I plan to communicate face to face with the restaurants in the city and establish an agreement for them to use the product.
