Inspiration

Restaurants around the world still rely on traditional paper menus, expensive ordering systems, and third-party platforms that charge high commissions. We wanted to create a simple and affordable solution that helps restaurants go digital without complicated setup or expensive hardware.

The idea behind MenuForma came from seeing how restaurants struggle with updating menus, serving international customers, and managing orders efficiently. A modern restaurant should be able to create a digital menu, accept orders, and communicate with customers easily.

What it does

MenuForma helps restaurants create digital QR menus and online ordering systems in minutes.

Restaurants can upload or create their menus, generate QR codes for tables, allow customers to browse menus and place orders from their phones, and manage incoming orders in real time.

Key features include:

  • QR code digital menus
  • Table ordering system
  • Takeaway and delivery ordering
  • Multilingual menus supporting international customers
  • Menu management with real-time updates
  • No commission fees on restaurant orders
  • Online payment support
  • Hotel room service ordering
  • Order notifications and basic analytics

MenuForma is designed for restaurants, cafes, bars, pizzerias, and hotels that want a simple alternative to expensive POS systems and marketplace platforms.

How I built it

MenuForma was built as a modern SaaS platform using a full-stack web architecture.

The platform was developed with React, TypeScript, Vite, Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL. It integrates with payment providers such as Stripe Connect, messaging services, QR code technology, and various APIs to provide a complete digital ordering experience.

A major focus during development was creating a scalable multilingual system that allows restaurants to serve customers from different countries with localized menus and interfaces.

Challenges I ran into

Building a global restaurant platform introduced many challenges.

One of the biggest challenges was supporting different countries, languages, currencies, tax rules, payment methods, and restaurant workflows.

We needed to create a flexible system that could work for a small cafe in Europe, a busy restaurant in the United States, or a hotel serving international guests.

Another challenge was making the product simple enough for restaurant owners who are not technical. The goal was to remove complexity while still providing powerful ordering features.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that MenuForma has evolved from a simple QR menu idea into a complete restaurant digitalization platform.

The platform now supports multiple languages, online ordering, payment integration, restaurant management tools, and international use cases.

We built a solution that allows restaurants to start for free and gradually adopt more advanced features as they grow.

What I learned

Building MenuForma taught me that successful SaaS products are not only about technology, but also about understanding real customer problems.

Restaurants need tools that save time, reduce costs, and improve customer experiences. Simplicity, reliability, and global adaptability are the most important parts of building products for small businesses.

What's next for MenuForma – QR Menu & Online Ordering

Our goal is to help restaurants worldwide transition to digital ordering.

We are continuing to improve AI-powered menu management, automation, deeper payment integrations, restaurant analytics, and tools that help businesses attract and serve more customers.

MenuForma aims to become a complete digital operating platform for restaurants, cafes, bars, and hotels around the world.
