Small cafés and beverage businesses often struggle with marketing, menu optimization, and customer engagement because they lack time, budget, or dedicated teams. Many café owners rely on trial and error when creating menus, pricing drinks, or posting on social media.

We wanted to build a solution that helps small cafés work smarter using AI. Since visual presentation is critical in food and beverage businesses, we focused on turning simple menu or drink photos into actionable business intelligence. Our goal was to make professional-level menu optimization accessible to small businesses.

How we built it

We built the application using MeDo as the core development platform for rapid prototyping and workflow integration.

Our system combines:

AI image recognition to identify beverages and menu items from uploaded photos Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate menu descriptions, promotional content, and marketing copy Business logic workflows for menu categorization and pricing suggestions A clean dashboard UI designed for café owners to quickly upload images and receive insights without complexity

We focused on building a fast and intuitive experience so users could get meaningful results in just a few clicks.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was improving the accuracy of food and drink recognition, especially for beverages that visually look similar, such as iced coffee, milk tea, and flavored drinks.

Another challenge was balancing AI-generated recommendations so they remained useful and realistic for small cafés. We needed to avoid overly generic descriptions and ensure outputs felt relevant to real business situations.

We also worked on making the user experience simple enough for non-technical café owners while still delivering meaningful insights.

We also gained experience in integrating image recognition with AI-generated content and learned how to make outputs more contextual and business-oriented.
