Inspiration
As Freshman, we faced a lot of issues when it came to the intro series for subjects like math and physics, so we decided to create an website catered to incoming freshman/people who are already freshman in order to give them a bit of a taste of what university courses are like as well as help them.
What it does
The website Allows students to connect with each other on Linkedin while getting access to videos from youtube about the topic as well as AI generated notes for some intro classes.
How we built it
We Used AWS Amplify for the backend as well as the Perplexity and Youtube API all bundled with a React/Next.js web application
Challenges we ran into
Our initial challenge involved setting up the AWS backend which took a lot more time than we expected to implement and as a result, we had to compromise and reduce the scale of our project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As students with very minimal experience, we are proud that we were able to get a somewhat working prototype for large scale software infrastructure that we have never used before such as AWS and perplexity gen AI API's
What we learned
We learned a lot about different softwares which are part of the AWS stack as well as getting access to API's as well as Perplexity's Pro version gave us the chance to learn a lot in the field of web development and challenges that we may face in the future.
What's next for Mentura
Most likely polish and add features we could not add during dubhacks and possibly take it to the next level.
