Inspiration
I encountered several talented candidates in my ML class, at a career fair, and among my friends. Although they have strong technical skills, they struggle with self-promotion. This app helps them manage their nerves and discreetly shares their skills with hiring managers, ensuring that they stand out based on their abilities rather than poorly written resumes that often get overlooked.
What it does
The app integrates OpenAI APIs to function as an interviewer for various rounds. There are two user types: job seekers, who can use it for free, and hiring companies, which will be charged. It collects basic information from interviewees about the type of mock interview they want to practice. Once the interview starts, communication is entirely verbal, simulating a remote interview. At the end, users receive feedback on their strengths and weaknesses, along with a performance score. This progress is tracked in the backend and made accessible to hiring companies, allowing them to filter candidates for real interviews easily. With resumes becoming outdated, this app aims to help individuals find suitable positions without bias in the new job market. This app authenticates users with their existing account on google using Firebase and Auth0 apis.
How we built it
I have developed APIs and storage in AWS with Serverless lambdas, S3 bucket and database is hosted in VPS in mysql. All the logic relies in the apis. The from-end is developed in iOS app. The app is 70% completed for the mvp.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating AWS libraries with lates versions of Xcode.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I could complete this project alone in 16 hours, and the OpenAI APIs are truly impressive. I'm excited to finish this project and launch it in the market.
What we learned
The commitment and enthusiasm that come from creating something solely to benefit society.
What's next for MentorMate
I will finish this MVP and develop models to analyze data while reaching out to hiring companies for wider collaboration. The next feature will be video resumes. The app has a singular goal: to reduce global unemployment and help people secure their dream jobs and find happiness. Additionally, it will support employed individuals in enhancing their job satisfaction.
