Inspiration
We saw a gap in the way faculty grow professionally—limited training, no personalized tracking, and lack of motivation. Our own teachers' challenges inspired us to build a solution that empowers educators like never before.
What it does
Mentor Mosaic helps faculty discover courses, attend workshops, plan lessons with AI, assess performance, and get recognized for their efforts—using dashboards, analytics, gamification, and seamless integration with platforms like Coursera and Udemy.
How we built it
We used the Django web framework for the backend and HTML/CSS/JavaScript for the frontend. The platform integrates AI tools like GPT for lesson planning, REST APIs for fetching course content, and Chart.js for analytics.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with real-time data integration, creating a smooth UI/UX for different user roles, and fine-tuning the reward system. Ensuring security for sensitive academic data was also a critical challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud ofWe created a fully functional prototype that supports real-time feedback, AI-assisted lesson planning, and visual analytics. It’s scalable, secure, and addresses real-world faculty development issues.
What we learned
We learned how to build a full-stack web application, integrate APIs, apply AI for education, and most importantly—how to turn feedback into impactful design and development.
What's next for Mentor Mosaic
We aim to deploy the platform at a real institution, integrate NAAC/NBA-aligned metrics, support mobile access, and add AI-powered career pathing to make Mentor Mosaic a long-term digital companion for educators.
