Inspiration
Our project was inspired by the Student affairs problem.
What it does
the project is a website that simply gathers student data through a questionnaire, it saves the data gathered then compares it with some of the mentors. The page then gives the best matching male and female mentor available for the user.
How we built it
We built the website using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The questionnaire was mainly built on the latter. We where going to have a data base using Python and Flask but we ran into several problems with it, making our project non-functional/incomplete
Challenges we ran into
Well the big problems where with flask, we had several 404 errors for reasons we couldn't seem to understand. We did everything we could but eventually we realised we had run out of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The front end of the website was pretty great, notably the questionnaire. The survey was not fully polished but it works like a charm, it saves the inputs into an array and everything, it just doesn't have the database. But we are very proud of that anyway. The intro page is something else we are proud of, it looks very professional!
What we learned
We improved in out JavaScript/html skills and have learned some things in python. We also saw where we where weaker and where we need to improve.
What's next for Mentor Compatibility Calculator
We will not abandon it, we will finish it then maybe even publish it on the web.
