Inspiration
The main inspiration for this app was essentially the modern world today. We live in a society in which it is becoming much easier to express your feelings and speak on things that are affecting you mentally. Therefore we took this idea and applied to something people use everyday, apps. This would allow easy access to something that could help something get through the day while also giving them ideas in regards to improving their current mental situation.
What it does
It provides the user with a scale chart where they can rate how their feeling and then they are presented with a text box where they can write out the cause for their current mood. The purpose for this was so they can see if there were any reoccurring patterns in their mood so they can go back and fix it. We also provide a link button in each choice selection that takes our user to helpful links, videos, and games that is set to either improve their mood or keep them felling happy and energized.
How I built it
We used bubble to create our app and separated multiple task among ourselves so that the work was evenly distributed. We created multiple pages and within the pages we added elements that connected one page to the other and stored their data to keep track of everyone using the app where they can log in without having to create a new username each time.
Challenges we ran into
Due to the inexperience with bubble and it being new to all of us, it was hard to maneuver around the website and figure out how we can implement things such as connecting each page to the next. After watching videos and testing out each feature, and needed up understanding how that works. Other problems we faced was trying to implement features into the app that would save data in a way where it wouldn't be tedious and in the end we weren't able to figure it out.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Having to work with something very new like bubble.io was already an accomplishment where we now have beginner experience with the website and hope to keep working with it and become experts. We're proud of coming up with a finished product that works and is testable on outside users and what makes it even better is to be able to work on a topic such as mental health which was important to all of us.
What I learned
Through bubble we learned how to create a outline for a app we have in mind. We also learned how to create data entries for emails, passwords, and name. Although we ran out of time we learned there are many other features we can install to bubble in order to improve our app. The design layout for our project was also an interesting area we all got to play with. Overall we learned the basics of bubble and can now go on with confidence to fix our areas of improvement.
What's next for Mentally Healthy
We have a few ideas and one of them being wanting to add a to-do list for the users to have the app remind them to exercise to remind the user to prioritize themselves. Anything the user wishes to do. Not only that but for every little note they write every time they open the app, we want that to be stored in a calendar that they can look back on and see what it was that they were upset about, or happy about and what helped them feel better so that they can be able to help themselves if they are ever in the same situation. We have so many more ideas for Mentally Healthy and hope that it's something that helps everyone learn to prioritize their mental health.
