Inspiration

The inspiration behind creating the Mental Wellness Hub website was the desire to help people improve their mental health through meditation and journaling. The team recognized the potential benefits these practices can have on mental well-being and wanted to provide a platform that facilitates them.

What it does

By allowing users to record and manage their journals, the website aims to support individuals in their journey towards better mental health.

How we built it

The project was built using a variety of tech stacks, including ReactJS, NodeJS, TailwindCSS, HTML, Clerk and CSS. The team utilized Vercel to host both the front end and back end of the website. Additionally, they incorporated tiptap, a Dev Toolkit Editor Suite connected with React, to enhance the journaling page. This combination of technologies enabled users to sign in, log in, and effectively record and manage their journals.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout the development process, the team encountered many different challenges that were successfully resolved. Sam faced difficulties with aligning pictures on small screens and some broken links were not working. He also faced issues with his Contact Us page where it was not going to the correct route, Eric and Sam worked on this together.Eric encountered his challenges related to the journal page of using the tip tap react editor suite, including the dependencies, use states, and use hooks. Eric ran into issues with connecting the convex to the Journal page backend. Ethan faced his challenge in setting up the authentication and connecting the convex to the backend. He also faced a challenge with some audio issues and a timer related to the mediation page. Despite these challenges, the team was able to overcome them through trial and error, resulting in a responsive website with no bugs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successful of the creation of the Journal and Mediation pages, which were the significant challenges. These pages allow users to record and manage their journals effectively and provide a platform for meditation. Additionally, We are also proud of being able to make all the pages responsive and ensure a smooth user experience.

What we learned

Throughout the development process of the project, we learned new technologies, such as React and various npm packages, and gained experience in setting up the backend and connecting it with the front end. We also learned how to use Convex for authentication and storing the journal information in the database.

What's Next for Mental Wellness Hub

In the future, we plan to implement a chatbot with integration that will allow the users to ask mental health-related questions. This feature aims to provide additional support and guidance to the users. Additionally, We plan to implement a dark-mode feature to accommodate users who prefer a less bright screen. In conclusion, we are committed to improving the website and expanding to better help other individuals to help their mental well-being.
