Inspiration
The idea for Mental Wellness AI was born from the silent struggles we’ve seen all around us. So many people laugh, smile, work, and appear “fine” — but deep down, they may be battling anxiety, stress, or even depression. The scariest part? Sometimes they don’t even realize it. We wanted to create something that doesn’t just ask how you're doing — but truly feels it. Something that can look past the surface, not through judgment, but through care. That’s what inspired us to build this application: a safe, AI-powered space that truly listens, observes, and uplifts.
What it does
Mental Wellness AI is an intelligent mental health assessment and guidance application that combines:
- Comprehensive quizzes about the user’s work, social life, emotional patterns, habits, and mindset
- AI-powered sentiment analysis using the user’s video and audio input — reading micro-expressions, tone shifts, and facial emotions (with full privacy control)
- Personalized mental health summaries and well-being suggestions
- Daily self-care tips, activity prompts, affirmations, and gentle support messages
- Emotional score mapping to track mental health over time
It’s like a friend who not only listens but observes you deeply and responds compassionately.
How we built it
We combined:
- Bolt.new to create an interactive AI interface
- Natural Language Processing (NLP) for analyzing quiz responses
- Sentiment analysis APIs to read audio tone and facial expressions from short video/audio clips (within consent and privacy-first model)
- Prompt engineering to make conversations feel supportive, never robotic
A UI built for emotional comfort — with warm colors, calming fonts, and intuitive flow
Challenges we ran into
Designing an AI that doesn’t just assess — but empathizes — was emotionally and technically demanding.
Implementing video/audio-based emotion recognition responsibly, with privacy and ethics in mind, was a delicate balance.
We had to make sure the AI wouldn’t overstep boundaries or trigger distress.
Working within time constraints while doing justice to such a sensitive topic.

Integrating multi-modal emotion detection alongside text inputs — a rare and powerful fusion!
Creating something that could make a person pause, reflect, and feel truly seen.
Building an app that uses tech not just to inform, but to comfort and uplift.

Integrate real-time emotional state detection during calls or camera interactions.
Build a dashboard to track emotional health and self-care progress over time.
Partner with mental health experts to refine assessments and offer clinical connections (if needed).
Create anonymous community features for shared stories and peer support.
Launch a mobile version so users can check in anytime, anywhere — with their mind’s best friend in their pocket.
Because mental health isn’t just about fixing — it’s about understanding, supporting, and helping people heal.
