Inspiration
Every day, emotions shift—sometimes we’re motivated and happy, other times anxious, stressed, or unmotivated. I’ve personally noticed how music, stories, and small uplifting reminders can help me through difficult moods. That inspired me to build a space where anyone can track their emotional patterns and find the right boost when they need it most.
What it does
The app lets users record their mood daily through a simple slider. Over time, they can track and visualize their mental state, noticing patterns and triggers. When users are in a low state, the app provides curated short stories, calming playlists, or uplifting content—reviewed and suggested by developers—to help them feel grounded and supported.
How we built it
It started with a mood-submitting slider connected to a cozy, welcoming UI. From there, we designed a system that will later connect to a backend (Django/React) for storing moods, generating insights, and serving personalized suggestions.
Challenges we ran into
Designing a balance between simplicity (easy mood logging) and depth (meaningful insights).
Making the app feel warm and supportive through colors, UI, and interaction flow.
Time management: breaking down big ideas (AI suggestions, music curation) into an achievable prototype.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built the first working prototype of mood submission and feedback.
Designed a welcoming, cozy interface that makes mental health tracking less clinical and more personal.
Defined a clear roadmap to expand into a full mental support platform.
What we learned
How much design and user experience matter in mental health-related apps.
The importance of pacing development: starting small and meaningful before adding complex AI features.
New technical skills in frontend (HTML/CSS/JS for mood slider and UI) and integration planning for Django/React.
What's next for Mental Support App
Strengthen user privacy and data security from the very beginning—mood data is deeply personal, so even the first prototype will take encryption and safe storage seriously.
Expand mood tracking into a calendar view with color gradients (green to red for mood states).
Add AI-generated and developer-reviewed stories, motivational quotes, and playlists.
Provide more personalized insights: "Your motivation is higher in mornings" or "You’ve been calmer on weekends."
Build community features where users can share uplifting content safely.
