Inspiration
I was motivated by the website rethink. Although I was considering creating a website about mental health or climate change, I felt a stronger connection to mental health. I decided to create a website on mental health after seeing rethinks website and how the founder is working to end bullying. The dilemma was, how could my website be useful, so I reasoned, why not have it where people can reach out for support.
What it does
My mental health website serves as a reliable platform for individuals seeking a listening ear and guidance during challenging times. By providing a safe and secure space, my website offers a supportive environment for individuals to share their struggles, be it relationship issues, family conflicts, or any other concerns that burden their minds. With the aim of fostering emotional well-being, my website connects individuals with compassionate listeners who are dedicated to providing genuine support. Note: I meant to say that you shouldn't pay for counseling; this website is just designed to be a supplemental resource.
How we built it
Based on my blog website, I created the mental help website. My initial endeavor was a blog website. I learned a lot working on that project and used tutorials. As a result, I was able to build the mental help website on my own without consulting any guides. HTML and CSS were used. I made the "go little rockstar" picture and the main home image. Every other image is a Pinterest find.
Challenges we ran into
On my second website, I encountered fewer difficulties than I did on my first, and this included media queries. I wasn't sure what min-width and max-width were for. Not only that, but my biggest problem and struggle was figuring out how to add a chat feature to my website. I was feeling frustrated because I'm only a beginner. But then a video on talking to clients and more appeared. It seemed like fate. This was a huge plus for me because it enabled me to add agents or volunteers, increasing the number of people who can support the cause.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm extremely pleased with the way my website came out; however, it is more or less on the media queries (I still can't figure out the issue). Since I wasn't sure how I would even be able to section the html previously, I'm proud that I was able to put the graphics and content in the proper areas of the body html.
What we learned
More than I had previously known, I learned how to section a webpage and use media queries. I gained knowledge about using flexbox a little bit, resizing the navigation bar, setting background colors for various sections, choosing the right typefaces for making photos, and more.
What's next for Mental Help
For my part, I do hope that I can attract more attention to the website itself in the near future. I hope that more individuals use the website to receive the support they require. Additionally, I want to create an article section where I can use my passion for writing by producing positive and relatable material.
