Inspiration

What inspired us to make this project was seeing our community. Everyday many see their parents stress out from work, our peers stress about AP classes, teachers stress out about troublesome students. They all endured so much and that its the new norm and that's not ok. So we wanted to do something about it and help their mental health problems.

What it does

Our project allows our users to take courses to better understand and overcome their mental health issues through our courses. They can also calm themselves through the breathing exercises. On top of that, our chat bot talks to our users and tries to comfort them and offer advice to the best of its ability. Overall, its an assistant and guide to a better state of mind.

How we built it

We built Salutis using Next.js 15 with React 19 for the frontend, Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui for styling, and Convex for real-time backend and authentication. Our process included researching mental health resources, designing accessible interfaces, developing core features, and integrating them into a smooth, responsive experience.

Challenges we ran into

Sometimes our ideas didn't seem very useful so we had to scrap a lot of them. We were stuck for hours until we eventually decided on this website. Not to mention the we ran into a few errors during the coding which was troublesome to debug.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are mostly proud of the courses. It turned out much better than we had anticipated and we feel as though its the main part of our site.

What we learned

We strengthened our technical skills by mastering Next.js 15 with React 19, building a real-time AI chatbot, and creating responsive, animated interfaces with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui. We also learned how Convex can power secure, real-time backends. Through research, we deepened our understanding of evidence-based mental health practices like breathing exercises and the need for accessible resources. Finally, we improved our teamwork, debugging, and user-centered design skills, especially for sensitive topics.

What's next for Salutis

Our short-term goals include expanding breathing exercises, adding more forms of progress tracking, and enhancing the chatbot’s mental health knowledge & features. After that, we plan to partner with professionals, build a mobile app, and create more personalized learning paths. Long term, we aim to serve schools, workplaces, and global communities with multilingual support and healthcare integration. Sustainability will come from partnerships, grants, and keeping core features free.
