Inspiration
When covid hit we all were forced into our homes and we had no social interaction which caused depression and in severe cases suicide. As suicide rates in 2022 rose again I feel like there should be a way for people to take a quick survey once a week and help them understand how they are doing mentally which is where my mental health form comes in.
What it does
It takes in user input on 9 basic depression questions and it calculates the score of the options the user selects. Based on the score the form gives the user suggestions about what do about their mental health.
How we built it
I built the website in replit using JS, HTML, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
I had never done JS before so it was a great learning experience on how to get user input and how to make the website interact using the user input. I wanted to add cool charts such as bar graphs and wanted to save the data but learning all of this would take a little more than the time period given by this hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm really proud of how the website came out considering that I only spent about 6 hours on it. I'm really happy about the java-script working properly and all the cool color changes it makes on the output text on the certain user input.
What we learned
As I stated before I had no prior experience in JS so learning JS through websites like stack overflow and watching youtube tutorials was really fun. I also learned animations and other things you can do with html and css.
What's next for Mental Health Survey
I would like to make this survey a weekly basis for the user and the survey would save the data of the user. It will give the normal results but it will also show charts and graphs which will allow the user to see whether their depression level is increasing/decreasing. I would also like to format the website better to make it look more professional rather than a student project.
