Community Ethos: The Community Mental Health Support Map interactive online support laden tool was designed to help people across Derbyshire find the right support for their mental health and wellbeing. It bring all aspects of mental health and well-being support in one place.
Aims: Improve access to local services, Highlight free or low-cost support, Promote inclusion, peer support, and early help, Reduce stigma by making support easy to find and raising awareness generally
The map was created during the pandemic by the Derbyshire Recovery & Peer Support Service. It is maintained by one person with lived experience and it grows through community contributions. It is linked with local campaigns such as World Suicide Prevention Day and highlights funding or training opportunities for peer groups. The map is a living resource -built by and for Derbyshire communities — helping people find support close to home.
Maintaining the mapping tool, keeping it relevant, and a trusted resource
It empowers individuals to find support for themselves, in their own safe space in there own community and in their own time. The map has constantly changed to meet local needs, it support colleagues and their client bases, giving a county wide picture, the map working on behalf of the community
That the support mapping tool works best if the whole community are engaged with it.
Engage with local in wellbeing hubs, libraries, and GP surgeries, for free access for all, meaning access for support and support insight is not a barrier. Raise more awareness and continue to work on the Summary of and best for listing.
