About the Project
Inspiration
Our inspiration for the Mental Health State Identifier (MHSI) project stems from a deep concern for mental health in today's society. We recognize that mental health issues often go unnoticed, and individuals may hesitate to seek help. Our goal is to provide a simple yet effective tool for people to assess their mental well-being, break the stigma, and encourage open conversations about mental health.
What it Does
MHSI is a web-based tool that empowers users to self-assess their mental health. It offers a questionnaire covering various aspects of mental well-being, such as stress, sleep quality, concentration, and more. After completing the assessment, users receive a personalized evaluation, helping them understand their mental health status. If necessary, they are directed to seek professional support.
How we Built it
We built MHSI using a combination of web technologies. The front-end is crafted with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, providing an intuitive and accessible user interface. DevPost serves as our platform for hosting and managing the project. Our development process involved collaborative teamwork, brainstorming sessions, and code iterations to ensure a user-friendly and efficient tool.
Challenges we Ran Into
Throughout our journey, we encountered several challenges. Designing a comprehensive yet concise questionnaire required careful consideration. Additionally, calculating meaningful scores and providing relevant assessments posed technical challenges. We also had to ensure the privacy and security of user data. Overcoming these obstacles required continuous research, teamwork, and dedication.
Accomplishments that we're Proud of
We take pride in creating a tool that addresses a crucial aspect of public health. MHSI empowers individuals to take proactive steps towards understanding and improving their mental well-being. We are proud of our user-friendly design, the accuracy of our assessments, and our commitment to fostering a more open dialogue about mental health.
What we Learned
Throughout this project, we deepened our understanding of mental health issues, web development, and user experience design. We learned the importance of collaboration, user feedback, and the significance of addressing sensitive topics with empathy and respect.
What's Next for Mental Health State Identifier (MHSI)
Our journey doesn't end here. We have exciting plans for the future of MHSI. We aim to expand the questionnaire with more in-depth questions and personalized recommendations. Collaborating with mental health professionals to enhance the tool's effectiveness is on our horizon. Ultimately, we aspire to make MHSI a valuable resource for individuals seeking mental health support and awareness.
