Inspiration

As students who did online school during the covid-19 pandemic, we understood how much the pandemic impacted mental health. We realized that mental health shouldn't be taken lightly so we wanted to create a website that allowed us to help those who feel their mental health is not at their best.

What it does

Our website allows you to learn more about mental health in terms of statistics, interact and print out physical activities on our "printables" page that you can complete, and access information about where to get help when you feel you need it.

How we built it

We built our website using HTML, JSS, and CSS because this was these were the languages we felt most proficient in. We explored a lot of new skills and tried to implement elements that we have never tried to add before to make the experience the best for the user and make the website attractive.

Challenges we ran into

Because we tried a lot of things that we haven't done before, it took us a while to figure out where the bugs were and why certain elements wouldn't work. It was also difficult to figure out the speed of our website and why some things would take longer to load.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Because this was our very first hackathon, our main objective was the learn or try something new and all of our team members did that so we're very satisfied with the results. All we wanted was the experience of our first hackathon and we all accomplished that.

What we learned

We learned more in-depth about coding in HTML, JSS, and CSS especially since we had to really understand what the code meant in order to spot where the mistake is and why the whole chunk of code wasn't working. We learned how to spot our mistakes and how to fix them.

What's next for Mental Health - KLVM

Our next step would be enhancing our website by adding other features and adding an interactive page to our website that doesn't need to take you to another window. We would also like to improve the speed of our website and add elements that will attract more users to use it.
