Inspiration
As anxious high school students, we didn't have a good grasp on understanding our own emotions. When we were young, we were never taught about this particular topic. Now, we want to spread more awareness with regards to children's mental health and prepare them for the future.
What it does
Our website acts as a forum where young children are able to share their emotions in this tight-knit community. Children will be able to type out any positive or negative emotions as well as browse through other quotes and mini stories to understand their own emotions.
How we built it
We built the website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstraps. We also used GitHub to push files and updates to more easily collaborate as a team.
**Google Cloud: deployed our app using domain name kidsconnectby.tech and with Google Cloud as the host
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges. As this is our first time participating in a Hackathon and because we are complete beginners at web developing, we had to learn these languages from scratch. We also didn't get time to learn and create a database to filter new quotes or to store user favorite quotes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In such a short period of time, we found that we were able to pick up and learn these languages while applying them in real time to develop our idea.
What we learned
We learned the applications of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and how we can use GitHub for version control.
What's next for hiphipzooray
Since we weren't able to develop the ideas that we had planned, we would like to implement them in the future. We will learn more about databases and cloud services as a means to store large amounts of quotes. We had an idea of creating a filtering system to prevent derogatory words or otherwise harmful language to young children. We would also like to implement a login interface where we can store each users' favorite quotes to look back to.
