Inspiration
We've seen many peers around us suffer from mental health problems in recent times. Especially as of the pandemic, mental health has been on a steep decline and requires more awareness brought to it. One option to relieve stress is journaling.
What it does
We decided to bring this idea online by making a short survey to track the user's mental health over time and give them healthy options for potential resolution.
How we built it
We built our project using Visual Studio Code. We implemented the front end via CSS and HTML while for the functionality we used JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
We had plans to make a larger database to track each user's data. This included the use of a login and the utilization of an Apache server. However, we ran into many obstacles regarding storing this data, which made us revise the idea and use local storage.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our ability to use local servers to create a resource for individuals grappling with suicide to keep track of their daily entries allowing them to track their progress. More importantly, we are proud to give an outlet for those battling mental health issues and help people worldwide.
What we learned
As a team, we learned how to communicate with each other and utilized each other strong suits to create a project to the of our best ability. Additionally. we learned a valuable lesson to improvise on the spot and learn the hurdles regarding coding.
What's next for Mental Health Journal
The next step is adding an Apache server which we were unable to complete during this time window. In addition, we would like to apply AI to cater more specifically to each user's unique situation and to analyze trends within the user's calendar notes.
