Inspiration
Our team has always known that school segregation has been an issue, especially with the entire college application process and how we each had different experiences growing up and preparing for the process. We wanted to provide a source that users can use to learn more about this issue and become more aware of it happening in the realm of education.
What it does
Our website provides information and resources for users to learn more about school segregation and allows users to have the ability to directly make an impact in the community with the contact information provided on the website. There is also a navigation bar that allows users to click between pages to see new information and details about the problem and who to contact to make a change.
How we built it
We used the website glitch and found templates for websites to format our information. We also implemented our previous knowledge of HTML and CSS to complete the code for the website.
Challenges we ran into
We had struggled to align texts and include a navigation bar but after some debugging and research, we were able to fix our code and properly build our website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're especially proud of how the website turned out visually along with all the hyperlinks working properly. The research payoff was especially rewarding because all the information we provided is accurate and useful for users.
What we learned
We learned that debugging takes some time and that HTML is a coding language that is particularly fun to use.
What's next for School Segregation
The next step we would like to see is making a change that directly impacts and supports the communities affected by school segregation and expanding it to all areas and not just Los Angeles.
