Inspiration
We were inspired to do our project about Mental Health because it has been a very important aspect of this past year. This pandemic took a huge toll on everyone’s mental health, and we thought making an informative website would be a good way to share information and raise awareness for proper mental care.
What it does
Our website offers the user with information regarding common mental health disorders, as well as help resources. The help resources include ways to help yourself, ways to help others, links to meditation videos, and phone numbers to reach out to for help.
How we built it
We gathered our information and research, then we organized it onto the site using HTML and CSS. To make the website, we used Repl.it and Canva.
Challenges we ran into
We took on a project that might have been too much for all of us to handle given the communication constraints of being virtual. We would run into issues where teammates would be online at different times, which would make it hard to contact them and get things done at the pace we initially wanted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the composition of the website. The information on the site can be very helpful and we hope to impact at least one person with what we have made.
What we learned
We learned about mental health disorders that we were not as familiar with before through our research. We also were able to teach each other about HTML and CSS coding and how to use different platforms like GitHub and DevPost.
What's next for Mental Health Awareness
If we decide to continue this project once this Hackathon is over, we will enhance our site. We would clean up the visual aspect of it and work on graphic design to make the website as aesthetically appealing to users. We would also refine the information and find new and more efficient ways to organize it.
