Inspiration
Our main inspiration for this project was Mental Health Awareness Week which took place recently, from October 1st to October 7th. Furthermore, both of us have loved ones who have dealt with severe mental health issues to the point where they couldn't live their normal life and had to be confined to receive professional help. That is the main reason why we decided to create a website that provides methods and solutions to help improve your mental state before it gets too extreme.
What it does
We have designed a website that offers users 10 different methods to address mental health issues. Users can choose a method that they find suitable and effective by clicking on it. Once a method is selected, users will be presented with a brief description of why it is important to work on that specific method, followed by a few solutions tailored to that method to help improve their mental well-being.
How we built it
Beka and I may not have much experience using HTML, but being skilled C++ coders, we were confident in our ability to develop a top-notch solution to address mental health. We used Replit to create the website and started by brainstorming how we would set up the front end. We then conducted thorough research to ensure that our users received the most accurate and efficient information. Finally, we added all the pictures and an "About The Creators" page to help users get to know us better. With our combined skills and dedication, we believe we have created an exceptional resource.
Challenges we ran into
As a team, Beka and I were faced with an exciting opportunity to learn a new skill during our programming project. Although we had no prior experience with HTML, we were determined to overcome any obstacles that came our way. Despite encountering some initial challenges, we embraced each difficulty as an opportunity to learn and grow. For instance, we had some difficulty adding pictures and bullet points, but we were able to solve these problems by working collaboratively and utilizing available resources. Overall, we are proud of the progress we made and the skills we acquired during this project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Beka and I are extremely proud of our project. Despite it being our first time using HTML, we are thrilled with the outcome and are confident that we can compete with the best in the hackathon. Our website is intended to raise awareness about mental health and provide valuable resources to those who are struggling. We are immensely proud of our work and believe that it can make a significant difference in the lives of people dealing with mental health problems.
What we learned
Through our experience, we discovered that by committing to practice and fostering hope, we can become proficient in something despite having no prior experience. We utilized our background knowledge and resources to learn many new things about HTML and about ourselves. Overall, it has been a fun and educational experience.
What's next for Mental Health Awareness
Beka and I aim to expand Mental Health Awareness by disseminating it to a wide range of people. Our primary objective is to ensure that the information on our site is always up-to-date with the latest research on mental health and the latest solutions available.
