Inspiration: We wanted to build a website that had to do with current events. After talking to our friends, we realized that many people’s mental health is deteriorating due to the current situation with Covid 19. Therefore, we decided that we wanted to create something that helps people’s mental health during this global pandemic.

What it does: We built an informational website to educate readers about the impact of Covid 19 on mental health and provide them with resources to get help if they’re in need.

How we built it: We used Glitch.com as a platform to build our website. We utilized HTML and CSS.

Challenges we ran into: The formatting and text spacing of the website looked a bit different on varying operating systems and browsers.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of: We learned how to build a website in less than 24 hours with no prior experience! The feature we’re most proud of is parallax scrolling effect on the Resource page. We also made some artwork for the site.

What I learned: We learned teamwork and flexibility. We sometimes had ideas for the website that conflicted with other teammates but were able to come to a compromise. We also learned time management, our group had never had to do a coding project in such a short amount of time. We learned to divide up work and stay on a schedule. This was our first hackathon so there was the learning curve of having to figure out the rules.

What’s next for our Mental Health and Covid 19 website: We hope to be able to add further information and resources onto the website. We would like to add anecdotes from people. People that either had covid or have had issues with their mental health. We want our users to connect on a personal level with the website. We want them to relate to the experiences others are going through Covid and know they aren't alone.
