TEAM MINISILICON Problem Statement: Medical tourism in India : Medical tourism is a growing sector in the Indian economy. In fact, in the year 2022, India's medical tourism sector was estimated to be worth US$9 billion. (source: ) Approximately 2 million patients visit India each year from no less than 78 countries for medical, wellness and IVF treatments, generating $6 billion for the industry . This number is expected to reach $13 billion by 2026 and is backed by various government schemes For instance, flexible Medical visas are issued to foreign patients which can be extended up to an year, as well as additional attendant visas for medical tourists to bring a relative or friend to India. Likewise, the government also aims to integrate traditional Indian healthcare like yoga and Ayurveda with modern healthcare systems. However, despite these initiatives, the industry faces several challenges at present: Key Challenges in India’s Medical Tourism Industry involve:
- Strong competition from other destinations like Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey, South Korea with low-cost options.
- Lack of cohesiveness amongst the major players in the industry to come together and represent India on a world platform to acquire newer geographies.
- Inconsistent fee structure and lack of transparency in billing foreign patients
- Absurdly high margins charged by agents to refer patients

This would help provide unbiased, objective information which would help foreign patients access information and choose the alternative best for themselves. While many websites focus on setting up appointments and online doctor interactions, we are focusing specifically on the issue of surgery. This includes critical procedures like heart surgeries as well as cosmetic treatments. The solution is a win-win situation for both Indian hospitals and foreign patients.
