Inspiration

Mental Health is something that is often overlooked and swept under the rug. Some may find it to be a struggle to not only look for mental health resources, but also seek help. This app was something we hope people can find comfort in if they want to turn to themselves for mental health help. Its a first step in the right direction!

What it does

Helping mend your day one color at a time! Mend provides users with 5 default colors attached with an emotion, as well as an option to add customized colors and emotions. When users click on a color that describes their emotion, the app will then take the color and store it in the calendar. Afterward, you have the option to journal out why you felt this way. Users also have the option of their journal history from previous dates. It is a way of self reflection!

How we built it

We built Mend utilizing React Native!

Challenges we ran into

The challenges we ran into were more towards facing the back end. The issues we had were displaying the colors clicked on the Home page that would correspond to the calendar, adding new colors to the home screen and storing and sending data/user input from one page to another.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The accomplishments we're proud of is learning a new language for CruzHacks! Prior to this, we had little to know code experience with React Native as a language. We were also able to accomplish the color scheme and a solid layout of the application, which is something to be proud of and build upon in the future.

What we learned

We learned React Native! Half of us were familiar with React which may have made the learning curve a bit easier for the other half that did not know React to begin with.

What's next for Mend

What's next for Mend would be finishing up any areas that were not finished/resolved during the duration of CruzHacks.
