Inspiration

In the era of digital communication, video calls have become a ubiquitous form of interaction, be it for professional meetings or personal chats. However, maintaining high levels of engagement during these calls can often be challenging. Inspired by the power of AI in transforming communication, we decided to leverage HumeAI technology to infuse a layer of interactive experience to our video calls, making them more engaging and fun.

What it does

Our project utilizes HumeAI's robust emotion detection algorithms to analyze human facial expressions in real-time during video calls. Based on the detected emotion and its intensity, our plugin triggers an appropriate response - such as a funny video when the user appears sleepy, or a jumpscare when it detects drowsiness. The goal is to create an engaging and interactive environment, enhancing the overall experience of video calls.

How we built it

We leveraged HumeAI for the emotion recognition component. The real-time emotion tracking system and response triggering mechanisms were developed using cutting-edge programming techniques.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge that took a lot of time was to actually getting to understand how the HumeAI works and how we can use the data to build upon our program.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developing an AI-based plugin that successfully identifies a range of human emotions in real-time and responds with tailored reactions is an achievement we're immensely proud of.

What we learned

The project enriched our knowledge in the field of AI, particularly emotion recognition using HumeAI. We learned the importance of user experience and customization in application design. Additionally, we recognized the importance of maintaining data privacy and the steps needed to achieve it in AI-based systems.
