Inspiration

We were inspired by wanting to make memory stick because we wanted to create something that could help people.

What it does

Memory Stick lets you capture what made you happy today on a virtual sticky note. These sticky notes can then be viewed to help remind you of the good times.

How we built it

We built this app using React and Tailwind for the front end, while using Supabase for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

This being the first time we connected a backend service, so we had a few hurdles to overcome getting the backend database and authentication connected to our application. As most of our team was't super familiar with Typescript and Javascript, we also had a couple hiccups to overcome when it came to the specifics of how to use React/Typescript to implement a functionality, such as our time-of-day dial.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Getting the frontend and backend connected together within the first few hours of development
  • Integrating frontend frameworks together to produce our calming interface
  • Implementing POST and GET requests to would successfully access our database and display the information to the website

What we learned

  • Create a website that has a functional frontend and backend
  • A few of our members learned more about React and Typescript
  • Learned about the dangers of scope creep

What's next for Memory Stick

  • Being able to connect and share with friends what made you happy recently
  • Image uploads
  • Highlight reel of most common words
