Inspiration
MemorEase was born from our time studying abroad in Korea, where we our team met, made incredible memories and wanted a creative way to capture them. Traditional photo-sharing platforms felt limiting, and we realized that there wasn’t a solution on the market that allowed for fully customizable, collaborative scrapbooks. So, we decided to create one ourselves—a place where people can relive and share memories in a more engaging and personal way.
What it does
MemorEase lets users create digital scrapbooks with complete customization. Users can personalize covers, layouts, and media, including photos, videos, and notes. They can add soundtracks or playlists, either manually or through AI recommendations based on the scrapbook’s theme. Users can collaborate with friends in real-time and share their projects publicly. Additionally, MemorEase provides a public gallery where users can explore other scrapbooks for inspiration.
How we built it
Currently, MemorEase exists as a Figma mockup, where we’ve mapped out the interface, user flows, and feature set. Our next step is to translate these designs into a fully functional React application. We plan to start with the core features—such as creating and displaying scrapbooks—before gradually building out customization options, collaboration tools, and media integration. As we transition from Figma to code, we’ll also incorporate Firebase to handle user authentication and media storage.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge so far has been planning how to convert our designs into an intuitive, scalable React app. We’ve also had to carefully prioritize which features to build first to avoid overwhelming ourselves. Managing media uploads, ensuring smooth collaboration, and implementing AI-generated soundtracks will require extensive research and development as we move forward.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of our detailed Figma mockup, which captures the vision of MemorEase and serves as a strong foundation for the development process. It’s exciting to see our ideas take shape visually, and we’ve successfully outlined user-friendly flows that we believe will enhance the experience. Establishing a clear development roadmap has also been a key accomplishment as we prepare to launch the project step by step.
What we learned
So far, we’ve learned a lot about UI/UX design and how important it is to build features with users’ needs in mind. We’ve also gained a better understanding of project planning—breaking down large tasks into smaller, more manageable steps. This process has taught us the value of iteration and collaboration, which will be essential as we develop the React app.
What's next for MemorEase
Our next step is to gradually transition from Figma to a working React app. We’ll begin by building the basic scrapbook creation and display features, then add customization tools and media integration. After that, we’ll work on collaboration functionality and introduce AI-based music recommendations. Eventually, we plan to integrate social features, like commenting and sharing, to foster community engagement. As we move forward, we’ll continue refining the user experience and look for ways to enhance creativity and connection.
