Inspiration
Inspiration I have seen many friends, colleagues and family members facing problem of forgetting important tasks despite best intentions — not from carelessness, but cognitive overload. Wearable technology offers a unique opportunity to provide ambient cognition support exactly when and where it's needed, transforming smart glasses from display devices into proactive memory assistants.
What it does
What Does It Do MemoLens integrates seamlessly into your field of view to remind you of tasks precisely when context demands — like prompting you to buy milk when passing a supermarket or nudging you to call someone before a deadline. It understands your environment, adapts to your activity level, and executes actions hands-free.
How we built it
How I Built It Built on Meta Quest 3 using the Meta XR SDK all-in-one combined with custom code. Developed a voice-to-AI pipeline integrating speech-to-text, LLM processing, and text-to-speech. Initially tested on Mac before porting to Quest. The system uses location awareness, time-based triggers, and adaptive UI rendering for the HUD.
Challenges we ran into
My Challenges • Voice integration complexity: Getting online voice recognition and synthesis to work reliably with LLM processing • State management: Creating usable, stable states for LLM decision-making with unknown and uncontrolled user input • Platform porting: Encountered challenges when porting from Mac to Quest that resulted in the APK not functioning properly (hence not included in submission)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What Am I Proud Of • Discipline & creativity: Turned a concept into a partially working prototype in very short time while simultaneously working on another project • Rapid skill application: Created compelling materials using tools learned during XRCC tutorials and hackathon phase one • Technical versatility: Quickly prototyped multiple complex concepts and built my own toolkit for AI/LLM decision-making and state management
What we learned
Success depends on working with like-minded team players who share commitment and vision, rather than individuals pursuing separate agendas. Collaborative alignment matters as much as technical capability.
What's next for MemoLens
Memolens is in active development and I plan to launch a version on Meta Quest 3 headset. It will be supported via a mobile app (optional) and a version is planned for Rayban Display
