Memento is an AI-powered biographer designed to capture the essence of a human life. It transforms fleeting memories and scattered stories into a beautifully structured, polished biography. By combining the power of voice interaction with advanced generative AI, Memento ensures that the wisdom, laughter, and legacy of our loved ones are never lost to time.

MEMENTO STORY

In a world that moves too fast, we often find ourselves wishing we had asked one more question, recorded one more laugh, or preserved one more story from our elders. The "Memento Story" began with a simple realization: memories are the only true inheritance we leave behind.

We created Memento for a hackathon to bridge the gap between generations. It was born from the desire to give every person—regardless of their technical skill—the ability to sit down with a "digital biographer" who listens with empathy and crafts their life's journey into a narrative that can be held, read, and cherished forever.

Memento isn't just an app; it’s a bridge across time.

TECH STACK

Memento is built with a robust, modern stack to ensure a seamless and soulful user experience:

  • Frontend: Next.js 14 (App Router) for a lightning-fast, SEO-friendly interface.
  • Styling: Tailwind CSS with Framer Motion for fluid, emotional animations.
  • State Management: Zustand for lightweight and reactive data handling.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    • AWS Bedrock: Orchestrating the AI intelligence.
    • AWS DynamoDB: Scalable NoSQL database for session and transcript storage.
    • AWS S3: Secure storage for the photos that anchor your memories.
    • AWS SES: Delivering the finished legacy directly to your inbox.
  • Document Generation: jsPDF and html2canvas to create beautiful, printable PDF biographies.

AI MODEL USED

Memento is powered by Amazon Nova Lite via AWS Bedrock.

We chose Nova Lite for its incredible ability to understand nuance, maintain the speaker's original voice, and transform raw, conversational transcripts into professional, structured prose. It acts as the "biographer's soul," removing filler words while keeping the heartbeat of the story intact.
