Inspiration

Memory is fragile. It fades, it distorts, and too often it stays locked inside one person without fully passing on to the people who matter most. We thought about the stories our parents and grandparents carry whether it was places they've lived, moments that shaped them, feelings they've never quite found the words for. A photo helps, but it's flat. A voice recording helps, but it's incomplete. We wanted to build something that could hold the full texture of a memory from the sights, the sounds, the place, the feeling, and let someone else truly step inside it. That's where Memento began.

What it does

We ask users to tell us their story in detail, then ask them to upload photos, videos, songs, and other artifacts related to that story to build the most accurate VR simulation possible and help our users relive their favorite memories.

How we built it

Using Figma and AI Generation tools, we completed the entire workflow from ideation to completion, creating wireframes, user flow maps (FigJam), and eventually fully functional hi-fi prototypes, integrating AI-generated software to capture our moments.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was deciding on a brand identity and applying it throughout the entire application. All the members on the team viewed “memory” ever so slightly differently, and that led to our visions not exactly aligning. We all agreed on the fact that memories have this hazy and warm feel to them, which is why we ultimately decided on the orange hues all across the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of how cohesive the product feels from end to end, especially since this was something we struggled with a lot initially. We're also really excited about the overall idea, and it feels like something we would actually want to use ourselves.

What we learned

We learned to properly divide and conquer when it comes to a huge project on a tight timeline like this. Planning things out ahead of time, maintaining clear communication with teammates is super important, and it will definitely save us time had we expected the amount of work we were going to have.

What's next for Memento

Developing it into a real app, and make some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :p
