Inspiration

  • Designers waste time switching between tools to find assets
  • We wanted creativity to stay inside the canvas
  • What if the design tool could “see” your work and suggest what you need next?
  • That idea led to Loomis

What it does

  • AI-powered Adobe Express add-on
  • Analyzes your current canvas or an uploaded image
  • Understands theme, style, and context of your design
  • Identifies what you already have and what might be missing
  • Suggests relevant images, backgrounds, illustrations, and GIFs
  • One-click insertion of any suggested asset directly into Express

How we built it

  • Built as a native Adobe Express add-on
  • Used Lit and Spectrum Web Components for UI
  • Used Adobe Express SDK to read and modify the canvas
  • Integrated Google Gemini Vision for design analysis
  • Built an Asset Orchestrator to fetch assets from: a. Tenor for GIFs b. Unsplash for images, illustrations, and backgrounds c. Handled attribution and Adobe constraints automatically

Challenges we ran into

  • Getting AI to give consistent and structured suggestions
  • Ensuring GIF suggestions met Adobe’s animation requirements
  • Balancing speed vs accuracy in AI analysis
  • Designing a smooth UI with proper loading, error, and pagination states

Accomplishments we’re proud of

  • Delivered a fully working MVP inside Adobe Express
  • Built real canvas scanning and AI analysis
  • Enabled true one-click asset insertion
  • Provided clear, explainable, segmented suggestions instead of random results
  • Created a polished UI that feels native to Adobe Express
  • Made the add-on easily deployable via a private link

What we learned

  • AI works best with clear structure and constraints
  • Too many options can slow designers down
  • Smart filtering is better than endless choices
  • Gained hands-on experience with AI agents and MCP-style services
  • Learned to ship a real product under tight deadlines
  • Strengthened teamwork and decision-making skills
