Inspiration
Recently came across the Spaced Repetition concept of learning and memorising things. Came to know there are already few apps in the market like Anki, but most of them are intimidating for new users. Took the challenge to improve the concept and gamify the experience with much better user experience.
What it does
MemDeck is a flashcard app built around one idea: you should review things right before you're about to forget them, not before or after. Create decks, add cards, and let spaced repetition handle the scheduling — no guesswork about when to study next.
How we built it
As a solo developer, I first ideated the entire process. I want the app to be less distraction and more focused on learning, so ripped off all the colors and went with monotonous theming which I believe enhances the user experience.
Challenges we ran into
The google review policy and I got stuck for days fixing the google sign in, which was working in development and failed entirely in production. Currently waiting for Billdesk approval to enable payment profile in google console and complete revenucat sdk integration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It was quite a challenge as a solo developer, building this app, post my 9-5 work. I am proud that I was consistent and I was able to complete the majority of the app, as I expected it to be.
What we learned
What's next for MemDeck - Remember Anything
Extend features like adding more gamified interactions, sharing user stats with friends and contacts, importing older notes from Anki and extending the app to other platforms like, iOS and online.
