How Memberium was started

Born out of a need for better performing Membership sites and a dissatisfaction with the limits of Membership platforms available for Infusionsoft and WordPress. Memberium was built for top internet marketers, by top internet marketers.

Memberium was originally developed by David Bullock, a leading Infusionsoft web developer. When one of his high profile clients became so frustrated with the membership site plugin they were trying to use, David decided to fix the root of the problem and created a custom membership plugin based around his clients needs.

Dave used it with his private consulting clients over the next year. Never originally intended for public release until Micah Mitchell was able to persuade Dave that there was a huge demand in the Infusionsoft community for a new membership site plugin that would integrate with WordPress. Thus, Memberium was born and launched in March of 2014.

Right after launching publicly, the MMMastery & Memberium team worked tirelessly on continuing to improve Memberium’s features, speed and usability.

A common issue with large Membership sites is they get slow & bloated easily.

Memberium was designed from day 1 for responsible use of the Infusionsoft API. Unlike older plugins that were designed in the days when every page load would cause a half dozen API calls to be made.

Memberium was conceived and designed around the two concepts that the API use is subject to quota, and that since API calls are relatively slow, a core feature of our product is that you’re given complete control over what’s synchronized, speeding up your site and minimizing your database footprint for maximum performance.

Depending on your needs, you can tune Memberium to run with as little as 20% of the API calls of other membership systems, resulting in a faster site, and improved scalability as you grow your business.

In order to optimize API usage, Memberium lets you control which data you synchronize during login. Allowing users to bypass syncing extra data while reducing API calls and usage.

Memberium today easily handles sites ranging from a few users, to sites with many tens of thousands of users. Those same loads have caused severe performance problems with kitchen-sink approach plugins.

Similar “membership site” plugins require enormous amounts of memory, and can cause site crashes due to memory exhaustion. As part of our focus on scalability we manage memory usage very carefully.

Many plugin authors will tell users that they need to increase your memory to 64M, 96M or even more just to run one plugin, that’s a huge red flag because they’re just hiding the problem — not fixing it. This memory pressure always causes scalability and reliability issues when your site is under load.

Allows logged in members to view and pay open invoices. Members can view all past invoices, and provides users ability to choose which card they want to use to pay any outstanding invoices.
