Inspiration

Despite being the biggest distribution platform, internet has suppressed the earnings of musicians.

Creators are not getting paid for their content proportionate to their popularity. Most often, content is given away for free. Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram and Facebook depend on advertisement revenue which is paltry. Netflix and its competitors use a monthly subscription which is not directly proportional to the usage. Many others use pay-per-view models where the consumer goes through a number of steps to make the payment.

What it does

Ignithereum Network Ltd has developed a platform based on Blockchain technology to address the issues of tokenization of music and other content into NFTs and the usage of smart contracts wherein payments for listening/watching are transferred from the user's wallet to the creator by the execution of the smart contract without any intermediary.

How we built it

We have developed a Dapp on NEAR Blockchain using RUST to mint and play Music NFTs.

Challenges we ran into

Integration of wallets. We were able to integrate Sender and Meteor wallets but not the others. Also, testing was done on Chrome browser only.

We have proven our capabilities of working with NEAR.

What we learned

RUST is a better programming language for blockchains.

What's next for MusicForNEAR

We plan to integrate more wallets and test the Dapp on more browsers. We are also looking for a grant to commercialize our project.
