Inspiration

Music creation today is split: AI tools generate sounds without context or credit, while human creators struggle to find collaborators organically. We were inspired to build a platform that treats music creation like discovery on Spotify—fluid, social, and intuitive—but designed for making music together, not just listening.

What it does

MelodyAI is a free, collaborative music platform where melody artists and lyricists discover each other, co-create songs, and publish with permanent shared credit. Users can generate real melodies with AI, upload original compositions, attach lyrics, save works into playlists, collaborate through versioned workflows, and download tracks without limits.

How we built it

We combined a real AI melody generator with advanced natural language recognition to understand lyrical sentiment, rhythm, phonetics, and emotional arcs across languages. On top of this, we designed Spotify-style discovery, playlists, and feeds, layered with collaboration tools like version tracking, approvals, and attribution-locked publishing.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing creative freedom with originality detection was challenging—especially deciding not to block creation even when similarity scores are high. Designing attribution that is transparent, permanent, and fair without hurting usability also required careful UX decisions to keep collaboration friction-free.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a platform where AI assists instead of replaces creators, collaboration feels natural, and credit is never lost. MelodyAI successfully merges discovery, creation, and collaboration into one seamless experience—something missing in both AI music tools and traditional marketplaces. What we learned

Next, we’re expanding personalized recommendations, smart collaboration matching, richer playlist workflows for drafts and releases, and deeper DAW integrations. Our goal is to make MelodyAI the global home for collaborative songwriting—Spotify, but for making music.
