Inspiration

As an OHS consultant, I needed a way to automate repetitive tasks—risk assessments, training, and compliance documentation—while also improving access to safety information across languages. Melly was created to solve that: a multilingual safety assistant that reduces admin stress, improves accuracy, and keeps compliance sharp.

What it does

Melly is a smart assistant focused on:

Generating safety policies, checklists, and training guides

Automating certificate creation (ID, issue date, validation)

Translating content into Zulu, Xhosa, Afrikaans, Sotho, etc.

Supporting team members with real-time answers and compliance tips

Upload-ready for service stations, retail, construction, and logistics

How we built it

OpenAI GPT-4o – reasoning, content generation

Gemini – integrations with Gmail, Drive

Firebase – backend structure

Framer – UI

ElevenLabs – multilingual narration

Python – for automation scripts

Canva, Notion, Airtable – for visual assets and data management

Fully Branded, Monetizable Assets Posters, lanyards, videos, and merch—Melly isn’t just functional, she’s market-ready with a full e-commerce model.

AI Agent Team Deployment Introduced Melly’s core squad: ‣ Trainer Teko (content), ‣ Ledger Lana (finance), ‣ Sales Sizwe (merch/store), ‣ Launch Lwazi (video drops), ‣ Hustle Gana (side gig monetization)

Built & Deployed During the Hackathon What started as an idea became a live platform, complete with training demos, landing page, and revenue-ready tools.

What we learned

Structure > Power AI is wild—but without clear logic and task flows, it becomes chaos. A defined structure gave Melly direction and consistency.

Local Language = Global Impact When safety content speaks your language (and your slang), trust and adoption go up—especially in diverse teams.

Tone is Everything A human-sounding assistant like Melly builds user confidence. Her casual but competent tone makes automation feel safe.

Less = More Simplifying workflows, ditching bloated features, and focusing on real needs made Melly faster and more reliable.

AI Squads Can Work Together Giving each agent a clear role helped avoid overlap—and boosted output. Delegation is key in AI-driven ops.
