Inspiration

-We want to help blockchain reach mass adoption via one of the simplest tools: video games. We will create a space where anyone can play blockchain games without any worries of entry barriers. Moreover, we are also gamers, so we understand the player's feeling of not being able to use their favorite game character/item even when the host game is shut down.

What it does

-We are working on a portal for converting NFTs from games to games to help players still have the ability to use their favorite game character or item even when the host game is shut down. As a result, this makes the game ecosystem become more diverse and attracts more and more users. We also have an NFT marketplace, which helps players swap their items (even between games) seamlessly. This helps provide a lot of liquidity for NFTs and saves players a lot of time.

How we built it

Use techniques that NEAR provides: Wallet, Cross Contract Calls, NFT and FT Standards on NEAR, JavaScript library to interact with accounts and smart contracts on NEAR -Business model: Meleport negotiates with game developers to create a consensus on converting/swap items. Focus on building a marketplace that is easy to use even for non-crypto users. At the same time, Meleport also builds a gaming community, competes through contests that we host, and helps players enjoy games.

Challenges we ran into

-Making deals with game makers to make their game compatible with our portal. -NFTs that will be listed on our marketplace can be overpriced. -Make choices between games to integrate our portal, so that players will not accidentally swap their items to a scam game.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Be a pioneer project in making services for swapping or converting NFTs between games.

What we learned

-Methodologies in tackling problems and having productive discussions to end up with a good roadmap for the team. -UI/UX design patterns to interact with accounts and smart contracts on NEAR

What's next for Meleport

-After completing building the 2 features of swapping and converting, we will continue to build:

  1. NFT staking. This will help to provide sellers with an extra passive earning while waiting for someone to buy their NFTs.
  2. Initial Game Offering. When we are a thriving project with many games to convert NFT items back and forth, games that does Initial Game Offering on our platform have a higher chance to gain a great number of users.
  3. Help traditional game makers transition to the blockchain game industry easier.
