Inspiration

Clump was inspired by my personal struggle with fragmented and outdated educational resources while studying Lithuanian biology and chemistry. Textbooks were often outdated, online resources were scattered and inconsistent, and there was no structured guidance to follow. I noticed how students, including myself, spent more time juggling multiple apps and sources than actually learning. This inefficiency, combined with the lack of personalized support, motivated me to create a single platform that would make studying structured, engaging, and effective.

What it does

Clump is an all-in-one, nonprofit educational platform designed to optimize learning for everyone. It combines modern learning science, verified content, and AI-driven assistance to make studying structured, engaging, and personalized. Clump blends structured curriculum, gamified progression (like Duolingo), interactive mini-games, and spaced repetition (like Anki) to create a holistic learning experience. It’s designed not just for self-study, but also as a curriculum-sharing and collaborative platform for classrooms, friends, and communities.

What I Learned

Through building Clump, I gained a deeper understanding of learning science, curriculum alignment, and the importance of adaptive technology in education. I learned how to design systems that combine gamification, spaced repetition, and AI personalization to optimize learning outcomes. On the technical side, I improved my skills in low-code/no-code app development, API integration, and user experience design. Beyond technology, I also learned the value of balancing verified content with user-generated contributions to create a collaborative, community-driven platform.

How we built it

The platform was built using a combination of low-code tools and advanced AI integrations: Google Cloud AI (Gemini API) powered adaptive learning, real-time study assistance, and personalized content recommendations. YouTube API enabled seamless integration of high-quality video lessons into course units. Canvas was used to design intuitive, visually organized layouts. Screen Studio helped produce tutorial and demo videos to showcase Clump’s functionality. The development focused on creating a cohesive ecosystem: unit-based learning combining PDFs, quizzes, and videos; AI-driven personalized study paths; and community features like moderated group chats and peer guidance. Gamification and mini-games were implemented to enhance engagement, while adaptive exams reinforced retention and identified weak points.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was integrating multiple learning modalities into a single, seamless workflow without overwhelming the user. Balancing AI recommendations with verified content required careful design to maintain credibility while providing flexibility. Additionally, designing a system that allowed free progression through units, while still tracking performance for adaptive testing, demanded careful workflow planning. Ensuring the platform remained scalable and nonprofit-focused, yet attractive for partnerships or community contribution, also required strategic thinking.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that I managed to do a web-app in 5 days! my first hackhaton and I pushed myself to finish it and give it my all. Despite everything, I have managed to overcome many hurdles:). I gained entrepreneur confidence, insane experience and friends that I

What we learned

I have learned to vibe code, about API's, organising, working, launching ideas to real projects!
