Inspiration

Hong Kong's bustling streets and complex navigation inspired us to create MeHK - a caring travel buddy that understands the anxiety travelers feel when exploring an unfamiliar city. We noticed that visitors often feel overwhelmed by Hong Kong's dense urban layout, language barriers, and unpredictable weather. The city's unique charm - from hidden local eateries to world-class attractions - deserved a companion that could guide travelers with empathy and understanding. We wanted to build more than just a navigation app; we envisioned a caring friend who would say "Don't panic 😎" when you're lost and instantly help you find your way.

Designing an AI that feels caring, empathetic, and trustworthy Balancing helpfulness with not being intrusive → needed advanced prompt engineering & personality modeling

Built LangChain/LangGraph-based AI agents that co-operate with multiple APIs & databases Challenge: AI sometimes unpredictable when choosing tools or switching contexts (navigation → weather → itinerary) Solved using structured workflows + fallback strategies → feels adaptive yet stable

📚## What We Learned 🧠 Designing with Empathy

Building emotionally intelligent AI is hard but powerful → caring tone transforms user trust and engagement. 🤖 Managing AI Unpredictability

AI agents with multiple tools/APIs can act unpredictably → we learned to balance autonomy with structured workflows.

🌦 Context Integration is Key

Merging external data (weather, maps, location) with emotional context makes AI feel smarter and more human-like. 🤝 Human-AI Collaboration

Learned that the best AI agents act less like “bots” and more like companions, blending logic + compassion.

What's next for MegaEvent HK

Expand Coverage → integrate more attractions, restaurants, and events across Hong Kong. Multilingual Support → Cantonese, Mandarin, English, Japanese, Korean — making Me a true global travel buddy. Deeper AI Personalization → recommendations tailored to budget, interests, weather, and travel style. Ticketing & Affiliate Partnerships → integrate with Trip.com, Klook, KKday for bookings and monetization. Offline Mode → navigation + itinerary accessible even without stable internet. Scale Beyond HK → bring the “Me” experience to other Asian travel hotspots.
