MEGA APP

Inspiration

The idea for MEGA began some time ago. My name is Manal, and I am a university student who recently moved to a new city. While searching for an apartment, I came across a social media post advertising a two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen and bathroom at a price that seemed unusually low compared to other apartments in the area. Excited by the offer, I contacted the seller and requested additional photos and a video. I liked what I saw and asked him to wait until I arrived in the city so we could meet and complete the payment. He refused, so I transferred half of the amount upfront, promising to pay the remaining balance upon arrival. Unfortunately, the seller took the money and then stopped responding to my calls. This experience opened my eyes to a common problem faced by many people when buying online and inspired me to find a solution that could protect users from online fraud.

What it does

How the app works:

The user enters the URL of the website where they saw the post.

The app verifies the user's account information and searches for their other accounts on other permitted platforms.

It examines the user's posted images and videos to ensure they are not artificially enhanced.

It analyzes comments to determine if they are fake.

The app checks the price and compares it to prices in the area.

If the user is suspected of fraud, the app contacts the website and provides a detailed report requesting the removal of the post.

How we built it

We built it using interface code Flutter and code Nodjes(javascript) to check if a link is valid or not.

Challenges we ran into

The time was short, and we didn't have much knowledge about how to build code that verifies the link.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We worked as a team, accepting each other's opinions, and were able to complete the initial MVP in a short period of time.

What we learned

Throughout the development of MEGA, we gained a wealth of knowledge and invaluable experience. Working as a team taught us the importance of effective communication and collaboration. We improved our research skills and explored new programming languages and tools, which allowed us to enter a domain that was previously unfamiliar to us. We also learned how to manage our time efficiently, set higher goals, and push the limits of our expectations. Even though our time was limited, we embraced the challenge with determination, aiming for success and ensuring that our application would be reliable and impactful. Beyond technical skills, we developed problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and the patience required to overcome challenges. Overall, this project not only enhanced our technical expertise but also allowed us to grow as a team and as individuals, preparing us for future projects with greater confidence and ambition.

What's next for MEGA

Whether or not we have gained recognition so far, our focus now is on developing MEGA further and improving its features. The next steps include seeking investors or partner companies to provide financial support and contribute new ideas to enhance the project. By collaborating with experienced partners, we aim to expand the app’s capabilities, increase its reliability, and make it more impactful for users. Our ultimate goal is to create a trustworthy, innovative solution that addresses online fraud effectively while continuing to grow and evolve as a team.
