Inspiration
There is no centralization when it comes to events, and information seems to be scattered everywhere. This app aims to centralize everything, from the location, invites, file sharing, and even event discovery.
What it does
The app helps you create and manage events, and discover local events nearby (university-related, community, etc.). The main features are creating public and private events, the main map homepage for discovery and seeing where your events are located based on your location, event searching, interacting with your event (basic communication for sending announcements/questions), and file sharing to share any necessary files beforehand or upload event files afterward (like a photo album, upload pictures and videos).
How we built it
Leveraged AI to create the stepping stones and skeleton for our app, then found frameworks and APIs that fit within what we were looking for (React Native, Expo, ngrok, Supabase, and Apple Maps). Used VS Code and Cursor to compile the project. Presentation.
Challenges we ran into
Coming up with an idea/problem that people can resonate with, connecting the API, finding the tech stack, using ngrok and Expo together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Functional chats, groups, events, interactive map, event search, and file sharing.
What we learned
Collaboration, working in a team, application structure, how to create a Python app/project, and creating the app's advertising, marketing, and pitch.
