Inspiration
Syncs was a load of fun but we didn't even know about it in our first year and we regret that we were unable to join.
What it does
Our project allows users to look for events using a recommendation algorithm powered by AI to find events that they might be interested in, but never heard of.
How we built it
We build the project using frontend and tailwindcss for the front end. For the backend we used python flask, and for the database we used google cloud and mysql.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was integrating the recommendation algorithm with the backend in a way that it provided personalized and accurate suggestions to users. Additionally, managing real-time data flow between the frontend and backend, and ensuring the system scaled well with an increasing number of users, proved to be technically demanding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of successfully implementing an AI-powered recommendation system that accurately suggests events based on user preferences. Another accomplishment is the seamless integration between the frontend, backend, and database, creating a smooth user experience. Moreover, we’re proud of the collaborative effort that brought together diverse technologies and ideas into a cohesive platform.
What we learned
We learned the importance of effective communication and collaboration when working with different technologies and team members. We also gained deeper insights into AI algorithms and their practical application in recommendation systems. Additionally, we improved our skills in using Flask for backend development and TailwindCSS for creating responsive and modern user interfaces.
What's next for MeetHub
Next, we plan to refine the recommendation algorithm to be even more personalized and accurate. We also want to expand the platform’s capabilities by adding features like real-time event notifications, social integration, and enhanced user profiles. Another goal is to optimize the platform for mobile devices to reach a broader audience.
