Inspiration

MeetCat is inspired by Tamagotchi (mini-handheld digital pets) and the spirit of finding the one on Valentine's Day!

What It Does

MeetCat takes you on an adventurous journey to find your destined partner through the power of love (and Bluetooth). For any hopeful soul looking for love, this adorable project will guide you to your match physically. Step-by-step, you and your partner will find each other and end up face to face - and similarly, your cat avatars will also meet one another!

How we built it

We designed a hardware build using various Arduino microcontrollers that are "matched" to each other using Bluetooth modules, displaying the characters at each stage on the OLED screens.

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges we ran into was setting the Bluetooth connection between multiple Arduinos due to faulty hardware and difficulty matching them despite following documentation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're most proud of the little cat characters and the logic behind their animations, bringing the whole project to life. Each image is lovingly hand-drawn and adorably animated in a two-bit artstyle!

What we learned

Our biggest takeaway was debugging hardware and figuring out how to integrate all parts of the project into one cohesive, user-friendly product. It was also a brilliant experience to work closely with one another and build this project together from the ground up.

What's next for MeetCat

Looking forward, MeetCat will expand to accommodate an increased number of users as well as improve its external design. We will also add onto the project by introducing a survey and match algorithm for users to choose their preferences and get paired up with their perfect date!
