Inspiration

Everyone of us needs to attend many meetings regularly, Nowadays, most of meeting are held online. Meeting platforms like Zoom, Teams, Google meeting are very popular, and they are considered typical successful Web2 applications. However, it is a bit surprising there hasn't a counterpart web3 meeting platform so far, given that so many Web2 softwares have been transited into Web3 domain. That motivates us why not we develop a native Web3 meeting platform instead,, let Web3 community have discussion in an immersive Web3 environment. That's the origin of our idea.

What it does

Our target for Meet3 is more than a simple utility to host meetings, but an open playground for people to exploit new Web3 technologies and have native Web3 experience. Furthermore, we also add in social functions,help people better follow the ongoing activities in Web3 world, and help people to get connected with each other easily.

How we built it

We start with a fundamental audio communication platform. On top of it, we add in Web3 elements one by one, e.g., account authentication,smart contract creation, access to NFT assets, on-chain lucky draw, etc. It is fun to see what Web3 features we can inject into a meeting to bring some innovative experience.

Challenges we ran into

we want to highlight Web3 core values - decentralization and anonymity, in a meeting context. How should we fine tune rules & procedures accordingly without compromising meeting experience people are familiar with is a challenge.
Furthermore, we want all interactions with blockchains are transparent to most users, that is, app performance are as smooth as possible, minimize the chain side influence. In order to achieve it, we need to explore different solutions and choose the best one among them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In such short time(we start this project from July) , we have developed a Web3 meeting platform MVP from zero to a functional one, that's great and really awarding! And even better during the course, we see the opportunity to grow it into a Web3 version ClubHouse.

What we learned

Web3 is in it low now. Before this, Web3 is more like a parallel world to Web2. In order to regain people's confidence in its future, we believe Web3 community should provide more practical tools to connect more with people's daily activities, let people explore and accept Web3 more easily.

What's next for Meet3

We will continue working on this project to grow it into a comprehensive social platform. Functions like video communication, crypto payments, are on the pipeline. For marketing, we will promote Meet3 in NFT community first. We believe Meet3's data analysis to attendants and NFT related tools are very useful to meeting organizers. Collaboration with merchandise brands , DAO, etc are also under consideration.
