The Mumzels are tiny, fluffy night-creatures with big blue eyes and soft fuzzy antennae. They sneak across rooftops, hide in attics, collect food, play with toys, and cause harmless chaos that humans often blame on ghosts or the wind. Every Mumzel has its own personality — brave, shy, stubborn, silly, magical, elegant, or wise — making them feel like a real little world living just out of sight.

For Bram Honcoop, the creator of the Mumzels, this world began as childhood imagination: a way to explain the strange sounds on the roof at night and turn fear into something cute, funny, and magical. Later, Bram shared these stories with his own children, and the Mumzels grew into characters filled with warmth, humor, and adventure.

With the rise of AI animation, Bram finally had the tools to bring the Mumzels to life — visually, musically, and in stories — transforming a family idea into a growing creative universe. The Mumzels are now a mix of nostalgia, creativity, and modern storytelling: a project built from love, curiosity, and the wish to inspire both kids and adults to see wonder in the small things around them. Meet The Mumzels is a magical 3-minute animated introduction that brings a new fantasy world to life. Elder, the oldest Mumzel, guides the viewer through a nighttime journey where each Mumzel appears in their own short micro-adventure. The film blends humor, charm, emotion, and character-driven animation to reveal the truth behind strange bumps on rooftops… It’s never ghosts — it’s always the Mumzels.

How we built it This project was created by combining several AI and creative tools into one smooth pipeline: Scenario.com was used to design, style, and refine the official Mumzel character images. Veo3 generated the animated shots based on these images and the script. ElevenLabs provided high-quality voice-over for Elder and the narration. Suno.ai was used to compose custom music that fits the atmosphere and emotions. PicsArt was used to clean up, enhance, and modified images where needed. PowerDirector was the main editing tool for assembling the full video, transitions, timing, pacing, and sync with audio. Every scene was constructed piece by piece to keep the characters consistent and expressive.

Challenges we ran into Character consistency: Ensuring each Mumzel (Blue, Mimzy, Bruno, Luna, Puck, Olivier, Nunu) kept the same look in every shot. Group scenes: Veo3 struggles when many characters appear together, so scenes had to be split and combined manually. Maintaining personalities: Each Mumzel has a unique emotion and voice — getting that across in short shots needed precise prompts. Syncing voice and movement: Matching ElevenLabs voice tones with Veo3 animations took careful editing. Music timing: Suno’s music needed adjustments to match key story moments.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Creating a full animated introduction with no traditional studio — only creativity, AI tools, and dedication. Building a world from scratch using characters imagined years ago and now brought to life. Strong emotional storytelling where every Mumzel shines through personality, movement, humor, and chaos. A polished 3+ minute animation combining visuals, voice, music, and editing smoothly. A recognizable IP with consistent designs, voices, and personalities across all tools.

What we learned How to refine AI-generated characters for animation using Scenario.com and Veo3. That emotional timing and voice acting (via ElevenLabs) greatly enhance character depth. How important editing is in making AI video feel professional. That music from Suno.ai can completely reshape the mood of a scene. How to guide an AI video model to follow animation principles like arcs, timing, anticipation, and appeal.
